Permission requirements for commit to new, commit to existing

Unable to Commit to New or Commit to Existing

Issue: Unable to Commit to New or Commit to Existing in Web Editor

Solution:
If your users are experiencing issues saving web editor jobs, then sometimes there may be issues with permissions on their Mediasite resources.

Please cross-check the following:

Commit To New
The user needs the following to commit to a new presentation.

1. The CreatePresentation operation.
From the management portal Go To: Security > Profiles > Select User. In the user profile page go to the 'Permissions' tab and scroll down to confirm that 'Create Presentations' is marked as 'Yes'

2. WRITE permission on the current presentation's parent folder.
In the parent folder, select Folder Options > Security

From here you can see the 'Assigned Roles'. Cross check these with the roles in the user's profile under the 'Security' tab and make sure they have write permissions.

3. READ permission on the current presentation's parent folder.
Same as step two but confirm the role they are in has read permissions.

4. READ permission on the current presentation's player.
Go to the presentation. On the summary page select the player:

On the player page select the 'More' > Security:

Once again, cross-check the 'Assigned Roles' with the user's roles, confirming the role has 'Read' permission.

5. READ permission on the current presentation's content encoding settings.
On the presentation page go to the 'Stream Details' tab and take note of the encoding settings referenced:

Now exit the presentation and go to the 'Recording' > 'Encoding settings' tab from the left hand menu:

Select one of the encoding settings you noted previously and go to 'More' > 'Security'

Once again, cross check the 'Assigned Roles' with the User's roles and confirm read permission. Do this for each of the encoding settings you noted.

6. READ permission on the current presentation's content servers.
In the presentation page go to the 'Delivery' Tab and select each of the servers listed:

On the server page select 'More' > 'Security':

Once again, cross check the 'Assigned Roles' with the user's roles and confirm they have read permissions. Do this for each server listed.

Commit To Existing
The user needs the following to commit to an existing presentation.

1. READ permission on the current presentation's parent folder.
2. READ permission on the current presentation's player.
3. READ permission on the current presentation's content encoding settings.
4. READ permission on the current presentation's content servers.
